Quando nella vita hai la fortuna di incontrare persone valide, umili e dotate di talento, è difficile che ti stacchi da quel legame. Gioisci delle loro fortune, quando ci sono, e soffri dei loro guai, quando capitano. L’amicizia in fondo ha questi semplici connotati, sincerità e punti di vista comuni. Ci si sente poco, gli amici non vengono valutati da quanto si sta assieme, ma i contatti veri non si perdono mai. Quando hai la fortuna di avere un amico musicista, anche se non lo vedi per qualche tempo, ti resta la sua musica, quella che ti ha donato col cuore, e che tu hai fatto tua perché la musica riempie i vuoti e avvicina anche quando l’amico musicista sta lontano, nella sua avventura di vita e di lavoro. Il potere del suono della sua musica è la colonna sonora che ti ricorda lui, i momenti vissuti insieme, le parole e la sua faccia sorridente. Ho diversi amici nella musica e tutti hanno tracciato importanti solchi nella mia anima e continuano a farlo.
Roberto Diana, il mio amico musicista, è una persona speciale, da quando lo conobbi circa 8 anni fa, approdato in uno studio televisivo con la sua chitarra e quell’aria da ragazzino ricciuto e timido. La sintonia fu immediata, perché dentro ciascuno di noi esiste quel respiro universale che basta saper cogliere per vederlo trasfomato in empatia e unicità.
Così oggi, dopo questi anni, continuo a seguirne le vicende, i successi, le performances, i tours, mentre il CD di Raighes 2 risuona nella stanza e mi delinea quel profilo di ragazzo sardo con la Gallura dentro, come pochi ho visto.
Ci sentiamo spesso, ci scriviamo, ci rimandiamo a quando tornerà in Sardegna e posso dire che ogni tappa della sua crescita artistica e professionale, l’abbia sempre vista in anticipo rispetto a tanti, e per me questo è un privilegio personale. Si è orgogliosi degli amici che si fanno strada e si impongono all’attenzione internazionale perché sono bravi e anche perché tu sai di conoscerne qualche lato interiore che pone quella tua conoscenza su un letto di foglie e di fiori, al riparo da insidie.
La tournée di Roberto all’estero sta avendo un successo meritato, le recensioni della stampa specializzata lo dicono e queste sono alcune delle belle critiche ricevute dopo la presentazione a Liverpool di Raighes vo. 2.
Oppure questa recensione dove la Sardegna è al centro del linguaggio musicale di Roberto e viene messa in luce con parole splendide.

It is an island in which so many seem to miss out on when exploring Southern Europe, the usual tourist traps of Rome, Barcelona, Naples, Valetta, all cities that bask within the Mediterranean sunshine and the feeling of the exotic, all play host not only to the physical but to the dreamers and the history pursuers.
It is almost unforgivable to think of Sardinia in any other way than offering a sense of culture to the Mediterranean diet, an island that sits in the sea, surrounded by other lands, other sets of people with their expressions and fabled ability to tell a tale, and yet can produce some as musically eloquent as Roberto Diana, that sound of beauty can carry beyond the imposed and be ignored by so many and yet those who take the time to witness the effect it can have on the soul, are forever blessed with innocence and charmed senses.
It is in that thought that Roberto Diana’s Raighes Vol 2 takes place. Raighes, the Sardinian for roots, is at the very centre, the romantic heartbeat that cuts through the swathes of disillusion and offers a scene of the noble picturesque, of the charmingly symbolic gesture that is both humble but also glamorous and colourful.

It is to feel at home, no matter the view, which makes Raighes Vol 2 such a delight, the homely, yet exotic, Sardinian sound is terrific and bound in riches, humble roots and uncluttered arrangements. A truly gifted performer, Roberto Diana once more takes us home.
